Greg Sestero Hosts Best Friends, The Room and More at the Rio | The Rio Theatre | Saturday, 13. January 2018

“Oh, hai Mark!”

Join us at the Rio Theatre with host Greg Sestero – immortalized as “Mark” in the pop-culture phenomenon THE ROOM and author of the best-selling memoir THE DISASTER ARTIST – for a full night of conversation and laughs featuring a double bill screening of both THE ROOM and an exclusive sneak peek at Greg’s latest collaboration with auteur Tommy Wiseau, BEST F(R)IENDS! Get ready to learn everything you ever wanted to know about THE ROOM from an interactive Q&A (as well as a THE DISASTER ARTIST book signing and meet n’ greet) with Greg, maybe participate in one of the Rio’s legendary live audience script readings, and meet some VERY SPECIAL GUESTS…

As always, expect a few surprises and of course – lots of spoons!!!

(FYI: In November of 2013, Greg Sestero hosted THE ROOM and talked about his memoir, THE DISASTER ARTIST, at the Rio Theatre when actor James Franco – in town shooting THE INTERVIEW – attended his very first ever screening of the film. The two met that night, and the rest is, as they say, is history!)

BEST F(R)IENDS (Justin McGregor, 2017 / 108 mins) When a drifter (Greg Sestero) is taken in by a peculiar mortician (Tommy Wiseau), the two hatch an underground enterprise off the back of the mortician’s old habits. But greed, hatred, and jealousy soon come in turn, and their efforts unravel, causing the drifter to run off with the spoils and leaving the mortician adrift. An expedition across the South West introduces wild and crazy characters through a series of twisted and dark foibles as both men learn a valuable lesson about friendship and loyalty.

“Finally, the dynamic duo that is Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero has reunited for a dream project that will send fans of The Room and The Disaster Artist into paroxyms of unabated joy once more.

A drifter (Sestero) who arrives in L.A. physically unharmed but mentally bruised; his shirt is covered in blood and he seems unable to speak. He ekes out a meager living by begging on the mean Angelino streets and slowly resigns himself to his hand to mouth predicament. An evening of work turns into a regular gig for the drifter, who finds himself warming up to this odd man with odder habits. One day he crosses paths with a peculiar mortician (Wiseau) who asks for help in exchange for money.

It’s not long before the two find themselves engaged in an…unusual yet increasingly lucrative underground enterprise. With more money comes more problems as jealousy, anger and greed start to poison their initially warm, if odd, partnership. Will these best f(r)iends survive the turning tide?

Nothing can accurately describe basking in the unholy glow that is ‘Best F(r)iends’ — a dark, strange journey about loyalty and friendship that reminds you why we all fell in love with this amazing duo in the first place.”

“Wiseau & Sestero! A reunion that fills my heart with pure joy.” – Matt Shakman, Director of Game of Thrones, Fargo

“An absurdist presentation of reality that’s both alien and true.” – Huffington Post

“LYNCHIAN AF… and almost…perfect?” – Los Angeles Times

THE ROOM (Tommy Wiseau, 2003 / 99 mins) You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll wonder, “What in the **** is going on here?!” Johnny is a successful banker with great respect for and dedication to the people in his life, especially his future wife Lisa. The happy-go-lucky guy sees his world fall apart when his friends begin to betray him one-by-one.
