  • Where does one rest their bones at the end of a long day metaling? Is this camping?
  • As the final instalment of the previews of our individual days, we find ourselves approaching perhaps the most obvious of the themes, but maybe the most POWERFUL of the days. This final day was created as a humble homage to those legendary videos of Blasphemy and Black Witchery from 2000/2001 that we have all grown up watching and worshiping. Tickets available at: www.covenantfestival.com - - - What can possibly be said about Blasphemy that hasn't been said 666 times before? The most important black metal band to ever rise out of the North American continent. They bring the sense of pure danger no longer present in black metal, and have paved the path from a genre's worth of music. You WILL bow down before the GODS OF WAR. - - - Black Witchery have been one of the two most demanded bands since we started doing Covenant (the other being Incantation), and it is incredible to finally have them on the fest. Pure Satanic might embodied; all who have seen their live set know their fury. - - - Antichrist... the ghosts of Ross Bay. When 'Sacrament Of Blood' was released 16 years after it was recorded, the mystery and hysteria surrounding the record was at fever pitch. Who the **** are these guys and where the **** did they come from? Well, now Vancouver has the chance to find out. Prepare to be Crucified In Flames! - - - Gloam has made a lot of waves recently as a stand out band to come out of the exceptional California scene. Haunting, torturous black with a playing style that predates division of sub-genres. Recent EP 'Death Is The Beginning' was released by the fantastic label Blood Harvest, which tells you a lot. - - - We are excited to have Goathammer open this day. Here is a band that is a perfect fit to begin the proceedings. Upon first listen, you hear the finely tuned war metal severity, but closer inspection yields vocals, razor-sharp drumming and solos not unlike the early Florida death metal scene. Prepare to be savagely beaten in to a pulp... and the night will have barely started! - - - SATURDAY, JUNE 23RD: Blasphemy Black Witchery Antichrist Gloam Goathammer
  • Continuing yesterday's talk of themes, today we introduce the Friday lineup. Friday's lineup was planned to show the titanic influence of one of the most important death metal bands of all time- the mighty Incantation. From the evil death metal of Witchvomit, to the crusty violence of Ahna, the grinding chaos of Graveolence, and of course to the highspeed death of the originally scheduled Tyrants Blood, INCANTATION's sordid touch knows no end. Obviously the addition of the legendary Witches Hammer is a deviation from this, but we're sure no one has no issues there ;) Individual tickets at: www.covenantfestival.com - - - Incantation needs no introduction. The most crushing, primordial death metal band of all time. Equally responsible for birthing the swirly, twisted death metal sound so present today, and the down-tuned death/doom sound we all love, Incantation is the true embodiment of a very over-used word: legendary. - - - To much excitement, Vancouver's first extreme metal band, Witches Hammer, will be reuniting for their first show in 29 years. The band started their earliest forms of rehearsal in 1979, formed in 1982, and was formally a band by 1984. This will be nothing short of a history lesson from veterans of the scene. - - - Witchvomit is one of the most exciting death metal bands to come out of the west coast in a while. Having parterned with the excellent 20 Buck Spin for the release of their great new mini-album, 'Poisoned Blood', the band proved they were among the elite. We can't wait for their ripping death metal to take our souls! - - - Ahna is a machine. One of the most prolific forces to arise from Vancouver, the band has constantly been a touring and releasing monster. Their surprisingly diverse sound brings death metal, crust punk, doom, and even a black/drone tinge, but one thing is certain: your brain will be blown out. - - - Graveolence is the best kept secret in Canada. Grinding violence that is somewhere between Human Remains, Gorguts, and being murdered in a basement. Insanely brutal vocals and virtuostic drumming complement psychadelic, droning riffs. - - - FRIDAY, JUNE 22ND: Incantation Witches Hammer Witchvomit Ahna Graveolence
  • the band butamacho need be this if not to late
  • Yeah so, which night is witches hammer?
  • Yeah so, which night is witches hammer?
  • We always theme the individual days of Covenant as best we can to have an over-arching egregore that compliments the event. The theme may be a musical similarity, lyrical compatibility, or perhaps that the bands were birthed from the same circle of conspirators. The theme for the first night of Covenant this year is to feature some of the most vicious acts from the west coast. Individual tickets at www.covenantfestival.com - - - Weregoat has not only become one of the favourite bands of Vancouver, but one of the most respected bands in metal. PERIOD. Having a chance to see them headline at the Rickshaw, on the heels of their magnificent debut album will surely be *******! - - - Slutvomit has been an enigmatic and compelling project for more than a decade now. Complete with a bombastic name, their music sounds like ancient German thrash and Brazilian black metal engaging in a pitched battle. Fashioned in the old way, and having shot straight out of the Hades, SLUTVOMIT is coming for Vancouver's throat. - - - Negative Vortex has honed as mouldy and disgusting a death metal sound as you will ever hear, and that is exactly the sound we're crazy for. Vile, visceral, and expertly played death metal that crushes you like the Finnish gods of old. - - - Auroch has gained a reputation for being one of the fastest, most violent death metal bands going. Their cacophonous blur will be at all time sharpest, as they will be playing this festival after a long European tour. - - - Sorguinazia is making their long awaited Covenant debut after having had to cancel last year. Lilithian black metal channeling a pure current of magic. Prepare for the trance... - - - THURSDAY, JUNE 21ST: Weregoat Slutvomit Negative Vortex Auroch Sorguinazia

  • The time has come! Vancouver’s first speed metal/thrash band... WITCHES HAMMER... will reunite at Covenant Festival IV, sending this already monolithic event in to the annals of history as a complete compendium of Vancouver's extreme metal history. Day to day tickets are available NOW at www.covenantfestival.com - - - - - - - Marco Banco explains... "Beginning in 1982, under the name Oblivion. Born into Witches Hammer in 1984. Risen to aggressively corrupt the glam glitz of heavy metal that infested the music scene. A foundation built through the Hardcore and punk rock landscape of the city. A single seed that would root this metropolis into the Landscape of heavy music that thrives today. After their final show in 1989, the axe men and cannons went on to work with Blasphemy, Procreation, Armoros and Tyrants Blood. Stretching into Infinity The final storm."
