Women's March on Ottawa - Because it is 2018! | Ottawa, Ontario | Saturday, 20. January 2018

WE MARCH AGAIN~ in solidarity with women and human rights groups from across the world we will be marching again to show that the progress made in 2017 was not enough. There is still so much work to do to protect and advance the rights of women, and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in our country. If you think 2017 was a loud year for women, well - you ain't seen nothing yet!
  • Ummm...why is it a March on Washington in Ottawa? Last time I looked at a map, Canada isn't a part of the United States. Yes, march for women's rights...in CANADA...and march for aboriginals...in CANADA! The US has over 300 million citizens, Canada has just over 30 million. March for awareness of Canadian issues.
  • Let me know if you'd like me to sing again.
  • Would love to see fewer ***** hats and more active inclusion/consideration of trans folks at this version!! Looking forward to it! ❤
  • What rights is this march looking to protect and advance for women?
  • Posted in another group but haven’t gotten results so I’m also posting here. Will you be prioritizing space for Indigenous (specifically ALGONQUIN and INUIT) women? Will you be going beyond a land acknowledgment and actually try to use this platform to draw attention to the way patriarchy and white supremacy go hand in hand? The way Indigenous women are often erased from conversations around women’s liberation. Also, will you work on acknowledging that there’s no liberation on stolen land unless you include Indigenous and Black women? You can’t claim intersectionality unless you’re actively working on amplifying and prioritizing Indigenous and Black voices...
  • Need a ***** hat and can't knit or sew!!! Will pay!!! Help!!!! Please!!!
  • So there are at least 3 different Facebook pages: 1) Women's March on Ottawa! - 43 Going · 226 Interested 2) Women's March on Ottawa - Because it is 2018! - 140 Going · 732 Interested 3) Women's March Canada: Ottawa Chapter - 27 Likes This multi-page approach to getting people involved looks really disorganized. Details about the march and discussion are going to be scattered. It would make more sense to have one page to share, that people can focus on.
  • Hope the marching route is better this year...walking through downtown Ottawa on a Saturday is like a ghost town, disrupts nothing, provides no visibility for the cause and the huge number of people who showed their support.
  • Stayed home from last year's march because I was spitting mad - after a year my anger still persists. Better get knitting a ***** hat, will aim for a larger size in case my tension is still tight.
