Quartetski Does Bartók | La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins | Thursday, 08. February 2018

TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest 2018 Presents: Quartetski Does Bartók

Featuring:
Pierre-Yves Martel - electric bass, synthesizer, direction
Isaiah Ceccarelli - drums
Guido Del Fabbro - violin synthesizer
Bernard Falaise - electric guitar
Philippe Lauzier - bass clarinet, soprano saxophone, melodica
Martin Tétreault - turntable

Founded by Pierre–Yves Martel in 2007, Quartetski has improvisationally reinterpreted the works of classical greats: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring; Hume’s Captain Hume’s Musical Humors; and Satie’s Sports et Divertissements. The ensemble starts the sonic experiment with the original compositions and takes a journey through their use of synths and other electric instrumentation. Those familiar, and unfamiliar, with the original compositions, will be captivated to hear Quartetski create a unique experience for audiences. For their performance at the 2018 TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest, Quarteski will be reinterpreting and performing Bartók’s Mikrokosmos.
