Orillia 2018 Ontario Winter Games | Orillia, Ontario | Thursday, 01. March 2018

The 2018 Ontario Winter Games are the largest multi-sport event in Orillia's history.

The City of Orillia is the official host for the 2018 Ontario Winter Games, taking place March 1 to 4, 2018. Athletes, ages 12 to 18, from all regions of Ontario will compete against their fellow provincial athletes. The Games provide athletes with development and competitive opportunities that will prepare them for national and international sports competitions. It also provides communities, volunteers and everyone a chance to celebrate sport in Ontario.

For the first time, Orillia is hosting the Games and will welcome athletes, coaches, managers and officials from across the province for this four-day event. More than 3,000 athletes, coaches, managers and officials will be participating in 25 different sport events. Events include alpine skiing, weightlifting, boxing, kickboxing, ringette, figure skating, boys hockey and curling and much more. For a full list of events being held as part of the games visit the Sports page.

The majority of the Games will be held in Orillia; however, proud neighbouring local-area municipalities such as Oro-Medonte, Chippewas of Rama First Nation, Gravenhurst, Midland, Bracebridge and Huntsville will also participate in hosting events.

Orillia has a rich sport history, both as participants and as event planners. Orillia was chosen as host due to its premier sport venues, engaged community with outstanding civic pride and willingness to work with all levels of government.

Be on the lookout for several public celebrations, cultural and promotional activities to support the Games.

  • We LOVE the Ontario Winter Games medal design by Tony Bianco! The medals were inspired by the spirit of sport and the spirit of Orillia. The athlete's oath as a design element reminds us of why and how we compete in these games. A stylized trillium stands out against a background of snowflakes to highlight Ontario and winter. As a host city, Orillia provides a location that embraces its guests, develops its people, and enjoys its environment. The two part reverse logo symbolizes this character. Working together, these elements speak to the essence of the Ontario Winter Games in Orillia.
