Art Crit at the AGM | Art Gallery of Mississauga | Saturday, 10. February 2018

ART CRIT at the AGM is a forum for artists at any stage of their career, working in any medium, to put forth a body of work, completed or in development, for critique, discussion and feedback by artist peers and members of the arts community. There is no fee to participate.

Artists interested in having their work critiqued, please submit a digital submission (guidelines below) by January 28th and ensure that you are available for the February 10th date.

Members of the arts community (artists, curators, educators, students, critics) interested in contributing to the discussion, please RSVP to .

No formal preparation is necessary; participating artists are only asked to be open to (and interested in) considering reactions to their work by the group, which will always be done in a supportive, constructive and casual environment, but could at the same time be challenging. Participating artists are encouraged to invite friends, peers and colleagues to see their work in progress and to give constructive feedback. Participants who are not presenting works are asked to bring a critical eye, but also an encouraging heart.

Due to time and space constraints, a maximum of 12 artists will be selected to participate. Submissions will be juried to ensure that all candidates are presenting work at an appropriate stage of maturity and will thus gain the maximum benefit from an intense review. Artists will be given 2 – 3 minutes to introduce their practice and the body of work, followed by 15 minutes of discussion. Due to space constraints and a desire to include those who might not be able to physically transport their work to the gallery, work selected for critique will be presented in digital image format, so quality documentary photography is crucial.

- Only digital submissions will be accepted. Please email to with the subject line “AGM ART CRIT”
- Each artist must submit a series of images of the body of work to be critiqued (maximum 5)
- Submissions must be accompanied by an image list including: Title of work, medium(s), year of creation, dimensions
- Maximum run time for time-based work is 10 minutes.

Submissions must include an artist statement, relating to the submitted series of works. A statement of practice may also be submitted, but is not required.

Submissions are due by 12 am Sunday, January 28th. Selected artists will be notified by Friday February 2nd.
