Violence Against Women and Housing Options for Support/Welfare Staff | Lambeth Town Hall | Thursday, 08. August 2019

This training is for practitioners working with Lambeth residents only. Priority will be given to practitioners based in Lambeth.
Trainer: Solace Women's Aid
Solace Women’s Aid have been working for more than 40 years to support women and children in London to build safe and strong lives - futures free from male abuse and violence. Solace provide 1:1 advocacy and support to victims and children, refuge accommodation, counselling and sexual abuse services as well as training for professionals.      
This session is aimed at frontline staff such as family support workers, mental health practitioners and Social Workers and provides a background on domestic violence with a specific focus on the housing options available for victims.
Objectives
By attending this course, participants will:

Understand the rights to local authority housing for victims of domestic violence
Understand how The Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act applies to victims of domestic violence
Know how to write a homelessness support letter and what to include
Understand the available options outside the local authority housing route for victims of domestic violence, including those with no recourse to public funds.
