  • Did you know no 2... Bach had a pretty rambunctious youth! https://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/sep/21/secret-bach-teenage-thug
  • Did you know?... Bach taught himself partly by making transcriptions, or 'covers', of other composers' works. One of the pieces he covered is featured in our programme, the Vivaldi double violin concerto in A minor, which Bach transcribed for organ. Here it is. Enjoy! (And then come and hear it in the original!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFjXo1E2vsI
  • We are joined for the first time in the ensemble by Chris Terepin on continuo cello, the part that carries the soloist in every baroque concerto. Chris Jones, one of the violin soloists, tells me that Chris T was best man at his wedding!
  • Chris Jones and Gemma Sharples, our two soloist/directors, will each play one solo concerto, and join for the Bach and Vivaldi 'double' concertos. Chris and Gemma have played together for several years in the wonderful Gildas String Quartet.
  • There's nothing quite like ditching the earphones and experiencing a live concert! And particularly wonderful to hear beautiful music in such a well-loved landmark as St Martin-in-the-Fields, right on the corner of Trafalgar Square.
