Huddersfield's Afro Hairitage and Beauty Exhibition | Northfield Hall | Saturday, 07. April 2018

Huddersfied's Afro Hairitage and Beauty Exhibition is back for 2018.

Our 2018 hair show will start later on, with doors opening at 3pm.
Just like the previous 2 we will have speakers on skin care, hair care, well being and health.

This time there will be no VIP or standard ticket types. Tickets will be all the same price with a child option - all attendees will recieve a goodie bag.

If you would like to attend worskhops during the day, there will be an extra cost - We will make sure the costs are inclusive for everyone.
- Body Scrub making workshop
- Braiding workshop
- Hair Wrapping workshop
- Spirituality and Healing

From 6-6.30pm there will be a break, where the room will be changed into a more formal/relaxed setting for the second part of the event - Black Girls Are Magic Awards (nominations)

We will hear inspirational talks from black females from the community that are making amazing movements all over the country.

Attendees will be able to upgrade their ticket to have a meal at the evening part of the event.

During the second part of the event we will announce the nominations for our awards ceremony which takes place october 2018.
Once nominees have been announced, everyone will have until September 2018 to vote.

Nomination forms will be online and launched this October 2017.

  • Looking for someone who can demonstrate how to wrap hair scarves for a workshop... it’s paid.... You have full control. The workshop will be 20 People per session and will run for 45 mins 4 times 11am 12 noon 1pm 2pm
  • Nominations close 1st January.... do not delay in nominating!!! Anyone can nominate any black woman who reside in the Yorkshire region (North, East, South West). If we don't receive enough nominations from each category, then the event cannot go ahead.
  • Greetings, We know our hair event isn't till April, however we like to be organised and planning ahead is always a good thing. As some of you know the hair event starts later in the day with Workshop running during the earlier part of the day. The workshops will start from 10.30am and run through till 2.30pm. Don't worry you will get 4 opportunities to attend the workshops throughout the day. - Hair Care workshops (learn to plait, moisturise and prep your hair) Ideal for parents of children with afro hair, men and women with afro hair (natural or not). (Children are welcome) - Hair Wrapping using beautiful African Prints - Make up workshop and tutorial (You will need to bring your own brushes and makeup) we provide some disposable spooly and lip stick brushes as well and brush cleaner - Sugar Scrub making (made with essential oils) - Doll making workshop (TBC) ----------------------------------------------------------- We we looking for speaker for the flooding subjects (For the Hair event) from 3pm - History of Afro Hair - African Spirituality - Nutrition and Wellbeing (For the Black Girls Are Magic Pre Launch) - Black Female Empowerment (9.30pm - 10pm) ALL SPEAKERS WILL BE PAID AND IDEALLY FROM 60 MILE RADIUS OF HUDDERSFIELD. Nominations launch for Black Girls Are Magic this October 2017 and will be open till end of February 2018... results will be read out at the pre launch of the BGAM Awards at Huddersfield's Afro Hairitage and Beauty Exhibition - April 7th 2018 As a group we will check and balance the results (you will all have access) and help push the event. Who ever gets the most (top 5) nominations goes through to the next round... which is winning the award. Black Girls Are Magic Awards pays homage to the amazing black women and girls that are doing amazing things in the community of Yorkshire and beyond.
