Careers in Social Justice and the Law | Weldon Law Building At Dalhousie University | Thursday, 08. February 2018

Are you passionate about social justice issues? Want to spend your career breaking down barriers in accessing justice? Come find out how from a talented group of lawyers and activists.

The second annual "Careers in Social Justice and the Law" event is happening on Thursday, February 08 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It will take place in room 104 of the Weldon Law Building.

We'll begin the night with a few opening remarks and then divide the students up into 7 groups and give each of the 7 lawyers a different place in room 104 or room 105. Each student will rotate through the stations of lawyers but hear from each guest for about 6-8 minutes.

Our guests will tell you about how they got to where they currently are in their respective practice areas, including how they became interested in that area of law, then leave a few minutes for questions.

After that, we'll reconvene in room 104 and there will be about 30 - 40 minutes of open mingling and conversation. We'll have some snacks and coffee available. This will be a chance for students to come back and talk some more with a particular person whose practice particularly intrigued them!

Guests include:

Aileen McGinty (mental health prosecutor)
Jamie Simpson (environmental law)
Angela Simmonds (crim, ANS rights)
Mike Dull (disability, class action)
David Wallbridge (labour),
Colin Strapps (crim, family law)
Guilhem de Roquefeuil (immigration and refugee law)

This event was incredibly well-recieved last year so please join us and take advantage of this great opportunity!
