This lecture packs in a ton of valuable information about acrylics, guiding listeners through the basics while opening up new possibilities. Gain information about mineral and modern pigments and how this relates to clean color mixing, glazing and the creation of fabulous new colors. Learn the unique properties of Fluids, Heavy Body, OPEN and High Flow Acrylics. Discover Interference and Iridescent paints for unusual effects. The GOLDEN Acrylic Lecture & Demo is a fun, fast-paced informative lecture covering a technical review of acrylics and their varied application possibilities. The lecture demo will present information on pigments, viscosities, gels, mediums and more. Learn how acrylics can be used as grounds for other media, such as watercolor or colored pencil; get key information on color mixing, blending and controlling drying time; and see how gels can be used to modify paint properties or create unique textural surfaces. From traditional to contemporary to mixed media, acrylics are infinitely versatile. Artists of all levels will come away from this lecture demo with fresh new insights to feed their creative expression. All participants will receive free product samples and a literature packet, including hand-painted color charts.

Presenter: Samantha Williams-Chapelsky was trained by GOLDEN for the Working Artists Program in 2014. For the past ten years, he has been offering hands-on workshops around the province of Alberta in acrylic, oil and fabric arts. Samantha is a graduate of the University of Alberta where she received her B.F.A. in painting and art history. She has been exhibiting her work professionally since 2008, in both solo and group shows. Her paintings are included in numerous corporate and private collections and are represented in both Calgary and Edmonton commercial art galleries.
