Metamorphosis Butoh explores the spirit of death and rebirth – a recurring theme in the Japanese aesthetic of Butoh – and is inspired by the work of Kazuo Ohno (founder of Butoh, along with Tamsumi Hishikata). This dance stems from the simple premise that transformation is essential to the continuum of life and personal growth. With its strong visuals and the use of colorful imagery that is a trademark of pataSola dance, Metamorphosis Butoh metaphorically uses the journey of transformation of the caterpillar to reflect one’s life journey
