Portage Pass Trail Day | Begich Boggs Visitor Center | Saturday, 27. July 2019

Join us on the Portage Pass Trail, a segment of the Iditarod National Historic Trail.
Hone your drainage and brush work skills on this two mile trail - a great day hike for all ages that provides spectacular views of Passage Canal and the surrounding mountains and glaciers. 
Where: Meet at the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center in Portage Valley
When: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Plan for the Day: We will meet at Begich, Boggs Visitor Center at 10 a.m. for a safety briefing and then carpool through the tunnel to Whittier. The tunnel is open to Whitter at the bottom of the hour.
Work will end at 3:30 to prepare to take the tunnel back to the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center at 4 p.m.
What to Bring: Lunch, water, rain gear, work gloves, long work pants and leather boots.
What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, pets, and firearms.
Notes: Volunteers must be 18 or older. Volunteers will hike four miles roundtrip to the worksite. This is a moderate hike where you will be carrying tools as well. Volunteers must be physically fit enough to complete this hike and work a full day.
